Laser therapy is a highly effective, non‑surgical way to reduce the appearance of thread veins, spider veins and small broken vessels on the legs. These visible veins can appear as fine red, blue or purple lines and are incredibly common, often linked to genetics, hormonal changes, prolonged standing, or simply the natural ageing of the vascular system.
At Laser + Light Skin Clinic, I use advanced the Nd:YAG vascular laser technology to safely collapse unwanted leg veins without harming the surrounding skin. The Motus AY allows me to precisely target superficial vessels beneath the skin’s surface.
The Motus AY delivers a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the haemoglobin inside the vessel. As the light converts to heat, one of two things happens:
Over the following weeks, your body naturally breaks down and clears the treated vessel. Some veins may re‑vascularise, but they typically return as much finer, less visible lines.
Because the treatment is non‑invasive and highly targeted, it’s an excellent option for reducing unwanted leg veins with minimal interruption to your daily routine. A consultation is essential to assess your vein type, depth and suitability.
At Laser + Light Skin Clinic, I use the Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser, which is widely recognised as the gold standard for treating leg veins.
Every treatment is safely tailored to your skin, your concerns and your goals.
If you are ready to reduce the look of superficial leg veins, the Motus AY offers a gentle yet powerful solution.
Please note that I cannot treat raised or bulging varicose veins, veins on the feet ankles or back of knees.
I chose the DEKA Motus AY — a Medical Grade 4 laser.
No rushed appointments, just consistent, personal care.
I’ve created a space that’s calm, welcoming, and pressure‑free.
Patient safety at the heart of everything I do.
Laser Leg Vessel Treatment can feel like a big step, so I’ve put together clear, honest answers to the questions I am asked most often in clinic. My goal is to help you feel informed, confident, and completely at ease.
The Motus AY is ideal for treating superficial leg veins such as thread veins, spider veins, broken capillaries and small red, blue or purple vessels. It cannot treat raised or bulging varicose veins.
Yes. A consultation allows me to assess your veins, check suitability and create a personalised treatment plan. It’s also an opportunity to discuss your goals and answer any questions.
Most clients describe the sensation as a quick warmth or flick. The Motus AY has built‑in cooling, which makes the treatment far more comfortable than older vascular lasers.
Most people need 3–5 sessions for the best results. Very small, superficial veins may clear in just one session.
Vascular treatments are usually spaced 6–12 weeks apart. This gives the body enough time to absorb the treated vessels and heal.
There is no downtime. You may experience mild redness, slight swelling or temporary darkening of the treated veins, but these effects settle quickly and you can return to normal activities straight away.
You may notice improvement after the first session, but results develop gradually over several weeks as the body clears the treated vessels.
Treated veins do not return, but new veins can develop over time due to genetics, lifestyle or hormonal changes. Maintenance treatments can help keep the area clear.
Yes. The Motus AY’s Nd:YAG wavelength is safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types, making it suitable for a wide range of clients.
No. These areas require a different medical approach and are not suitable for laser treatment.
Laser treatment is not suitable for raised or bulging varicose veins. If I suspect varicose veins, I will advise you to seek medical assessment.
Consultation
Your skin, vessels and medical history are assessed to ensure the treatment is safe and appropriate for your concerns.
Treatment Session
A thin layer of gel is applied to the skin. Controlled laser energy is delivered directly into the vessels.
Aftercare
Mild warmth or redness may appear immediately after the treatment and usually settles quickly. Applying a layer of aloe vera is recommended to sooth or ice packs (but never directly on the skin, always wrap in a towel or cloth). SPF 50 is essential to protect your results.
You’ll need to avoid:
I will give you full aftercare guidance during your appointment.
Every journey at Laser + Light Skin Clinic begins with a thorough consultation and patch test. This allows me to assess your skin, check for any sensitivities, and ensure the treatment is completely safe for you.
During your consultation, I will explain how the treatment works, what results to expect, and how to prepare for the best outcome. It is also a great opportunity for you to get to know me and feel confident in the process.
Once your patch test is complete, I will create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your skin type, hair type, and goals. You will have plenty of time to ask questions and discuss anything you’d like to know before starting your course.
