Pigmentation concerns, such as sunspots, age spots, and freckles are incredibly common. They are usually caused by years of sun exposure, natural ageing, or hormonal changes. These darker patches can appear on the face, chest, hands and other sun‑exposed areas, often making the skin look uneven or tired.
Advanced laser technology allows us to safely and effectively target these areas, restoring clarity and radiance to your complexion.
The DEKA Motus AY uses high-energy laser light to target the melanin in pigmented lesions. The pigmented lesions will absorb the light, which causes them to heat up. The heat created damages the cells containing the melanin, while causing minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Following treatment, the damaged lesions turn darker and may crust. Over the following weeks they will gradually flake away from the skin leaving little trace of the original lesion.
If you’re ready to reduce pigmentation and reveal a more even, radiant complexion, book a consultation at Laser + Light Skin Clinic. Together, we will create a personalised treatment plan designed around your skin and your goals.

Pigmentation Reduction Treatment can feel like a big step, so I’ve put together clear, honest answers to the questions I am asked most often in clinic. My goal is to help you feel informed, confident, and completely at ease.
The pigmentation marks that respond the best are superficial lesions such as those caused by sun damage (sun spots), liver spots and freckles.
Large, dark, mottled or raised pigmentation and Melasma cannot be treated and may need to be checked by a Dermatologist.
Short pulses of light are released and are absorbed by the high concentration of melanin found within pigmented lesions. The rapid absorption of light energy heats the melanin and causes the destruction of the melanin-rich cells. This triggers the body’s natural healing process to stimulate the growth of new, healthy skin tissue.
Your treatment begins with a thorough consultation and skin assessment. During the session:
Most clients describe the experience as very tolerable, and sessions typically take between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the area.
Following treatment, pigmentation will initially darken before gradually fading over the following days and weeks.
Micro-crusting of the lesion may also occur over the following days. The lesion will eventually ‘flake-off’ to leave an area without excess pigmentation. This is a normal and an expected part of the process.
To support the best results:
Many clients see a noticeable improvement after just one session, but a course of treatments may be recommended for optimal results, at 4 to 6 week intervals.
Downtime is minimal. You can return to normal activities straight away, although you will need to avoid heat, sun exposure and active skincare for a short period.
Results can be long‑lasting, but new pigmentation can develop with sun exposure. Daily SPF is essential to maintain your results and protect your skin.
Yes, avoid sunbeds, tanning, active skincare (like retinol or acids), and self‑tan for at least 1–2 weeks before your appointment. We’ll provide full pre‑treatment guidance during your consultation.
Every journey at Laser + Light Skin Clinic begins with a thorough consultation and patch test. This allows me to assess your skin, check for any sensitivities, and ensure the treatment is completely safe for you.
During your consultation, I will explain how the treatment works, what results to expect, and how to prepare for the best outcome. It is also a great opportunity for you to get to know me and feel confident in the process.
Once your patch test is complete, I will create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your skin type, hair type, and goals. You will have plenty of time to ask questions and discuss anything you’d like to know before starting your course.
